Description

Come learn about the latest from Les White, P.E. from CEMEX who will be speaking on:

Low Carbon Concrete: Where are we now? ACI 323 Low-Carbon Concrete - Code Requirements and Commentary - Where are we going?  Alternative Cementitious Binders. The topic of sustainable construction and low carbon materials in construction, specifically concrete, has been growing for several years.  As these discussions grew and expanded, the answer to one big question remained unclear.  The question is “How do you define low carbon concrete?”  Chief among other related questions is “How do you specify, or set targets for, low carbon concrete?”  ACI 323 Low-Carbon Concrete – Code Requirements and Commentary was published in November 2024 to help answer that question and offer guidance to regulatory agencies and others in establishing targets for low carbon concrete.

The concrete industry has developed a wide range of approaches to providing low carbon concrete that maintains required performance and durability.  These approaches include variations in concrete mix designs and improvements in material production, especially in cement production.  The development of non-traditional alternative cements and supplementary cementitious materials is an ongoing effort in areas around the country and across the world.

NOTE:  THIS MEETING IS AT THE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY CENTER ON THE KSU MARIETTA CAMPUS ETC 840 Polytechnic Ln. (Room 104), Room 104.  Parking is in the West Deck adjacent to the building.
