The Structural Engineers 2050 Commitment Program was developed in response to the SE 2050 Challenge issued in 2019 by the Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF) and the SE 2050 Commitment Program developed by the Sustainability Committee of ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute (SEI). The program aims to Educate the structural engineering profession on the best practices of sustainable structural design and construction that will lead to net-zero embodied carbon by 2050; Engage in an embodied carbon tracking program until net-zero is realized, and Report on the current embodied carbon impacts and trends of various structural systems for different regions.
Join Jay Arehart, Ph.D., the University of Colorado Boulder and Mike Gryniuk, P.E., LeMessurier on September 29, 2022 to learn what you need to know about whole-building life cycle assessment (WBLCA), best-practice strategies, and tools for quantifying and reducing embodied carbon in building, and how your firm can commit to eliminating embodied carbon.
Objectives:
- Define embodied carbon, environmental product declarations, and whole-building life cycle assessment (WBLCA).
- Discuss best-practice strategies and tools for quantifying and reducing embodied carbon in buildings.
- Understand the goals of the SE 2050 Initiative and how your firm can commit to eliminating embodied carbon.
