Description

Crossing the Professional Bridge: The 2026 MRA Roadmap
By: Gbemisola, President, ASCE UK Section

In an increasingly interconnected world, the infrastructure challenges we face, from climate resilience to the safety of high-risk buildings do not stop at national borders. Neither should the expertise of the engineers who solve them.

On May 11, 2026, the ASCE UK Section is hosting a landmark webinar to explore the future of transatlantic practice: The NCEES - Engineering Council Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).

The 2026 Pivot
2026 marks a transformative year for the MRA. With several major U.S. state boards reaching "Ready" status, the path for a UK Chartered Engineer (CEng) to gain recognition in the U.S.and for a U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) to practice in the UK has never been clearer.
However, navigating the requirements of the International Professional Engineer (IntPE) standard and the specific nuances of state licensure requires a clear roadmap.
A World-Class Lineup of Experts
To provide this roadmap, we have assembled a panel that represents the full spectrum of the MRA framework. We are honored to be joined by:
• Rosanna D'Antonio, of ASCE
• Marie Nebesky, of  NCEES
• Scott Sayles, PE, CEng, NCEES Western Zone VP
• The Engineering Council
• ICE
Building More Than Just Infrastructure
At the ASCE UK Section, we believe our role is to act as a "Global Bridge." This webinar is part of a broader strategic shift as we formalize our governance (incorporating as a Company Limited by Guarantee) and launch new Communities of Interest and Student Groups.
We aren’t just talking about policy; we are building the infrastructure for mentorship. We want to ensure that whether you are a senior practitioner or a graduate student, you have the tools to view the Atlantic not as a barrier, but as a neighborhood of opportunity.
Join the Conversation
We invite all ASCE members, wherever you are in the world, to join us for this critical session. This isn't just about a change in regulations; it’s about the future of your career in a globalized market.
