COPRI UFRJ Student Chapter 2021 Annual Lecture

When:  May 27, 2021 from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  COPRI Public Events
An Evolving Mult-Sector Geospatial Gateway for River Basin Management

Speaker:

Prof. Jeffrey Richey - University of Washington College of the Environment
Jeff Richey is an oceanographer whose research follows two primary tracks. The first is the biogeochemistry and hydrology of large-scale river basins, with a focus on the carbon and water cycles of the Amazon, Mekong and other global basins. The second is to build on this work to develop “dynamic information frameworks,” with the goal of promoting sustainable resource utilization in different regions. Richey is now working with international development agencies, such as the World Bank, on the application of systems capabilities to the data-sparse and transboundary regions of Asia, Africa, and Brazil. He has received numerous awards in recognition of his work, and was elected a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, and is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
