Starts:  Feb 27, 2026 09:00 AM (NZST)
Ends:  Apr 1, 2026 05:00 PM (NZST)
Associated with  New Zealand Section

ASCE is currently conducting a 45-day public comment period on the draft standard ASCE 91-YY Structural Testing and Evaluation of Pipeline Systems (STEPS): Assessment for Earthquakes and Other Geohazards.

This proposed standard establishes minimum requirements for full-scale structural testing of pipeline systems to evaluate their capacity under geohazards, including seismically induced ground deformation. The loading and displacement mechanisms addressed include axial tension, axial compression, and transverse bending.

The public comment period is open until 2 April 2026. Engineering professionals, researchers, and stakeholders with expertise in pipelines, geotechnical hazards, lifeline engineering, and seismic resilience are encouraged to review the draft and provide comments.

Please refer to the attached document for instructions on accessing the draft standard and submitting comments. Commentary is provided for informational purposes.

This notice is shared for the information of ASCE New Zealand Section members and the wider engineering community.
