Neabsco Commuter Parking Garage Design- Build Project

Presentation:

The Neabsco/Potomac Commuter Parking Garage Project. The goal of this project is to construct a 1,400-space commuter parking garage in vicinity of Opitz Boulevard and Potomac Center Boulevard. This project was previously submitted to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) under the name Potomac Town Center Garage Project. The construction of the garage will serve as a park-and-ride facility for commuters, relieving capacity at the Route 1/Route 234 and Prince William Parkway/Horner Road park-and-ride lots. The fact that right-of-way has already been acquired by Prince William County for the garage and site work enabled construction of the parking garage to begin shortly after notice to proceed within two weeks of contract award, This provided a significant benefit to the schedule to construct the garage. In addition, there are other efficiencies that gained using the Design-Build method such as the ability to easily phase the project into work packages to perform design and construction activities concurrently. Topics to be discussed will include:
- 1,400-space commuter parking garage structure
- 8 Bus Stops with bus shelters
- Designated Kiss & Ride Area on same elevation/level as the bus stops
- Designated slug line/waiting area
