Presenter's Bio: Donavan Spotsville is a civil engineering professional with four years of consulting experience, specializing in geosynthetics and geotechnical site solutions. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Donavan is currently advancing his professional track as an Engineer-in-Training, with plans to sit for the PE exam later this summer. Beyond his technical work, he is an avid traveler, dedicated to his family and his two dogs, and enjoys Latin dancing with his wife whenever the opportunity arises.

Presentation Summary: Civil engineers routinely face the challenge of designing resilient infrastructure over weak or variable subgrades. Traditional solutions such as deep undercutting or extensive chemical stabilization can be cost-prohibitive, time-consuming, and environmentally demanding. This session provides a foundational masterclass on geosynthetics, exploring how these engineered materials transform soil stabilization across both paved and unpaved applications. From heavy-haul industrial access roads to long-term flexible pavement design, we will break down the mechanics, economics, and practical engineering decisions required to successfully implement the appropriate geosynthetics in your next project.
