Writing Effective Geosynthetic Specifications

Well-written geosynthetic specifications are essential to achieving reliable, cost-effective, and high-performing systems in both environmental and civil infrastructure projects. This presentation will explore the selection process for both commodity products and engineered solutions, ensuring that the right materials are selected to meet project goals. The speaker will highlight strategies for writing performance-based specifications that support constructability, durability, and long-term value. Additionally, we will explore how to evaluate “equivalent” products. Designers in both the public and private sectors, as well as contractors, will benefit from practical guidance on how specifications can streamline project delivery and enhance overall performance.

Speaker: Ashley Loyola, P.E. brings 15 years of specialized experience in geotechnical engineering, with expertise in the design and construction of earth retaining structures and long-term solutions for construction over problematic soils. She has experience in consulting, technical sales, research, and project management – bringing a well-rounded view and approach to presentation delivery with the goal of advancing best practices and innovative solutions.  Ashley is an engineer with Terra Geosynthetics and a Research Project Manager at Florida International University.
