Teton Pass Highway 22 is a major road connecting Wyoming and Idaho, located in the southern end of the Teton Range in western Wyoming. The roadway elevation is over 8,000 ft. above sea level with grades as steep as 10%. Thousands of people commute between Eastern Idaho and Northwestern Wyoming every day as the roadway provides access to Teton National Park, Teton Village, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort ski area. On June 8, 2024, a slope failure occurred at MP 12.8 causing a landslide and washing out a large portion of the roadway. The landslide occurred in the “Big Fill” section of the road alignment, where the embankment is over 100 ft. in height. This presentation will summarize the emergency response, design, and geotechnical construction performed to date on this ongoing project.
