Please join CSCE at our monthly meeting at Quinnipiac University, North Haven, CT, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. At this meeting, Michael Culmo, P.E., Chief  Bridge Engineer at CHA, will give a presentation on the Long-Term Performance of Prefabricated Deck Level Connections, an Accelerated Bridge Construction technique, through use cases across three ConnDOT bridges. One (1) New York State PDH will be offered at this meeting. This meeting is co-sponsored by CSCE and the ASCE Student Chapter at Quinnipiac University.

Accelerated Bridge Construction has been in use in the United States for over 30 years. Engineers often express concerns with the durability of ABC technologies, especially with connections between precast elements. Bridge decks are exposed to some of the most challenging environments, especially in norther regions that use significant de-icing chemicals. The webinar will focus on the long-term performance of deck level connections used in ABC including post-tensioned deck panels, longitudinal closure joints, and link slabs. Three projects and 9 bridges will be highlighted with ages ranging from 13 to 35 years. The current conditions of these bridges will be presented along with lessons learned for future projects.
