It's just the first day, and after the committee meetings yesterday and the Meet the Leaders Breakfast this morning, I've already learned so much just from interacting with other attendees!

So, I'm starting this thread to talk about our biggest takeaways of the Congress. What have you learned? What part of the Congress have you benefitted most from?

For me, my biggest takeaway is the opportunity to be surrounded by people who are pushing our profession forward. It's inspiring to connect with old friends and new faces, learn about cutting edge practices, and be in the presence of others who love what they do and are excited for the future of structural engineering. You can feel that energy at the event, and it always reinvigorates me when I return to my home base (this is my 3rd Structures Congress).

If you missed the IStruct E session Thursday from 3:30-5, it was amazing! It really challenged you to think about the future of the structural engineering profession, and specifically what things we are doing now that computers will do in the future, and what we are doing now that computers will never be able to do (i.e. our value proposition to society). My favorite speaker quote from the conference so far came from this session and is below. The session was recorded, so I'm hoping to grab a copy to watch it a second time! If you missed it, I encourage you to do the same.
