    Hey everyone!

As it was proposed during the Leadership Summit, I'm here to know the interest of the other Chapters in attending our Annual Lecture. Our Annual Lecture was recorded and broadcast live on Youtube. If you're interested, we can subtitle the video in English and share the link here on Collaborate.

"The 2020 UFRJ COPRI Annual Lecture featured a lecture entitled "Support Tools for Coastal and Port Management", taught by Professor Conceição Juana Fortes, Head of the Nucleus of Ports and Maritime Structures of the National Civil Engineering Laboratory of Portugal (LNEC). The lecture took place at COPPE / UFRJ on March 11th, 14 PM.

The speaker talked about the impact of climatic events in coastal and port areas, with examples from Portugal, and their consequences on coastal structures and for the functioning of navigation. She presented how the tools to support coastal and port management are applied in this context, with a view to ensuring conditions of tranquility within ports. The number of tools for these areas is vast, Professor Fortes highlighted the physical model tools, adopted at LNEC for project optimization, monitoring of maritime works and forecasting and alert systems (…)"

    Hello Larissa,

I am the chapter president of an ASCE chapter in Portland, OR and I'd love to be able to share this with our chapter. As covid-19 has severely impacted our planned events, we are looking for more ways to provide virtual resources and events for our students. I also find that coastal engineering and ports and harbors are sections of civil engineering that could get much more love from the undergraduate community.

I am fluent in both Spanish and English, but don't speak any Portuguese. Will you be adding subtitles regardless for your own processes? Or are you seeing if there is enough interest to make it worthwhile? I can ask around my social network to see if I know some willing volunteer translators if you find you need that support to make this available.

    Thank you,

    Ana Tijerina Esquino

    Hello Ana,

I am Verônica, Communication Director of the UFRJ COPRI Student Chapter. I apologize for the delay in returning your message. We were waiting for an answer from the group that recorded the Lecture for us. Unfortunately, because of the quarantine, they are not able to send us the full vídeo, which is on the laboratory computer at the University. We are checking the quality of the vídeos we have made on our own to see if we can post it for now, and later we can share the complete version when we get the material.

Therefore, we have been posting short vídeos on our YouTube channel these past few weeks that may interest you. All the vídeos on our channel has English subtitles. This is the link:
