The ASCE-IL Section Mentorship Program was designed to connect university students with professionals in the civil engineering field to foster mentorship relationships. This initiative aimed to provide students with career insights and the benefits of professional membership while allowing mentors to share their expertise and understand the perspectives of the younger generation. The program included creating a Mentorship Committee, advertising for participants, pairing mentors and protégés based on discipline and interests, and encouraging attendance at ASCE events. Despite challenges posed by COVID-19, the program successfully facilitated networking and professional growth for both students and mentors.
