The Fellow Upgrade Promotion project at the Baton Rouge Branch aimed to increase the number of Fellows within the branch by identifying qualified candidates through the membership database and notifying them about the upgrade opportunity. The project was spearheaded by the Branch Membership Director and involved an 8-hour process for initial outreach, with an additional 2 hours dedicated to each interested candidate. Key success factors included effective mailouts and generating interest among members who were unaware of their eligibility for Fellow status, resulting in a 25 percent increase in total Branch Fellows prior to the program's establishment.%0aThe project faced challenges, particularly with the cumbersome ASCE membership database, which hindered efficiency. Recommendations for future efforts include recognizing new Fellows at Branch luncheons to honor their achievements and encourage further participation. Additionally, it was crucial to ensure that communications were accurate to avoid sending letters to deceased members, highlighting the importance of careful administration in membership development initiatives.
