The 2023 State of Sustainability Report for Los Angeles and Orange County is a collaborative effort between Value Sustainability and the ASCE Los Angeles Section and Orange County Branch. This report summarizes survey results aimed at fostering discussions on sustainability progress in Southern California. It builds on the findings from the 2017 report, aiming to raise awareness and create opportunities for collaboration among various organizations and agencies involved in sustainability efforts. The survey gathered insights from 105 professionals across diverse sectors, including engineering, architecture, and education, providing a comprehensive overview of sustainability practices in the region.%0aThe project, which spanned from December 2022 to October 2023, involved developing survey questions, collecting responses, and analyzing data. The use of Survey Monkey facilitated broad participation and streamlined data management. While the project faced challenges with complex survey questions and the need for larger teams to handle increased datasets, it ultimately resulted in a visually appealing and accessible report. Plans are in place to continue this initiative every five years, ensuring ongoing engagement and improvement in sustainability practices within the community.
