Description

Mentoring partners, Aly-Mousaad Aly and Silky Wong, PhD, SE, PE, CEng MICE, M. ASCE will be sharing mentoring tips. This will also be a time to discuss any challenges you’ve faced while allowing you to connect with others in ASCE Mentor Match. I hope you can join us.

Information on the hosts:

Aly-Mousaad Aly is a faculty at Louisiana State University. His research aims at creating fundamental knowledge in wind engineering, structural dynamics and control. Aly’s research looks at things like residential homes, high-rise buildings, transportation infrastructure, solar panels, and wind turbines, to build them efficiently. The goal is to achieve resilient, recoverable and sustainable built and natural environments that meet community objectives along the coast, to enhance safety and reduce the huge cost of rebuilding after storms. Aly received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan with a joint program at University of Connecticut, M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Alexandria University.

Silky Wong, PhD, SE, PE, CEng MICE, M. ASCE, is a Civil and Structural Engineer Manager at Dow Inc. She is a licensed Structural Engineer with more than 14 years of experience in both Oil & Gas and petrochemical industries. She is an active voting member of the following ASCE Committees: Energy Division executive committee, ASCE 7 wind loads & ASCE 37 committees, modularization for onshore heavy industrial applications, wind loads and anchorage design for petrochemical facilities. Her other research interests lie at the intersection of expertise development, leadership, and mentorship in the domain of engineering practice. She holds a BSCE from UT–Austin, a MSCE from UC–Berkeley, and a PhD in In Systems and Engineering Management from Texas Tech University.
