This will also be a time to discuss any challenges you’ve faced while allowing you to connect with others in ASCE Mentor Match.
Our hosts will be mentoring partners Dr. Dennis D. Truax, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, F.ASCE and Mitchell Garner, P.E., M.ASCE.
Dr. Dennis D. Truax is James T. White Endowed Chair, Department Head and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Mississippi State University and Director of the Mississippi Transportation Research Institute. Now in his 40th year on the Mississippi State faculty, he has assumed various roles as mentor to students, staff, and faculty.
He was elected a Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers in 1999 and Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers in 2016. He is one of two Chapter Honor Members of the Mississippi State University Chapter of Chi Epsilon and was recently recognized by the National Council of Examiners for Professional Engineers and Surveyors for his distinguished service to the profession.
Dennis has served on the Board of Direction of the American Society of Civil Engineers as a Director and Society Treasurer. He also holds, or has held, leadership positions with NSPE, NCEES, and ABET. He has served on Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors for ten years, serving as President of the Board twice. He is also Chair of the Onsite Wastewater Advisory Council for the Mississippi Department of Health.
Mitchell Garner, P.E., M.ASCE is a pre-construction manager for a large commercial contractor. Originally from Mississippi, he has been in Louisiana for almost 8 years. He enjoys volunteering and sitting on the board of the local Engineers Without Borders NOLA Professional Chapter.
