Scenario Planning for Epic Disruptions–How to Future-Proof our Infrastructure in an Uncertain World

The COVID-19 pandemic is requiring civil engineers and city planners to rapidly adjust plans with less cars on the road, fewer transit trips, new demands on electric and water utilities, capacity constraints on sidewalks and in urban open spaces, all with less revenue. Jerry Buckwalter will offer insights about similar “disruptors” from ASCE’s Future World Vision initiative, which is designed to explore long term trends and potential future scenarios for the built environment in an engaging visual platform.

In addition, you will hear from local agency leaders, including Dr. Joshua Schank, Chief Innovation Officer at LA Metro, about how they are planning for the future in an uncertain world, and how COVID-19 may have recently altered those plans.
