ASCE’s IIJA Implementation Series Broadband for All of US

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) will invest a historic $65 billion investment to significantly expand access to reliable high-speed internet. Among the specific allocations, IIJA provides $40 billion in grants to states, $600 million in Private Activities Bonds, $2 billion to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in support for rural areas, $2 billion for the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program, $1 billion to support construction of middle-mile projects, and $2.75 billion to fund the Digital Equity Act.

One of the first states to receive funding, Louisiana received a grant of over $2.9 billion to provide affordable and reliable high-speed internet throughout the state. Helping to build the program and deploy these new resources, the ConnectLA team is the broadband go-to in Louisiana. The Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity is housed in the Louisiana Division of Administration and strives to eliminate the digital divide in Louisiana by 2029. ConnectLA’s aim is to coordinate federal, state, and municipal efforts identifying best practices and tactics necessary.

Join Thomas Tyler, Jr. (Deputy Director, ConnectLA) and Government Relations team on April 17th from 3:00 – 4:00 pm Eastern Time to learn how Louisiana is a first-mover for federal broadband funding and working towards closing the gap in digital access across the state.
