As a 3-time attendee and recipient of the scholarship for young professionals this year I can say this conference is the best opportunity for structural engineers to network and stay up to date on whats going on with the profession. I am also part of the Student Initiatives committee and we have worked hard to bring students to this great event. This scholarship has been so successful that SEI has DOUBLED the funds two years in a row to bring more students to this event.
If you are a student, don't feel intimidated with how technical this conference may be. There are a lot of sessions for all levels of technical knowledge. When I first attended I was a senior and completely loved it. There is no better place to learn, network, and be active in the structural engineering profession. I have met a lot of great engineers with which I keep contact with. This conference has open opportunities to develop my technical and non-technical skills.
I can't talk enough good things about this conference, you just need to experience it! Don't let this opportunity pass, take action and join us to build the future of structural engineering!
With all that being said, there is an SEI Leadership Facilitation Skills Bootcamp coming up in October that will be a great opportunity for young engineers to start developing leadership skills and learn from the "pros". If you want more information you can check the website here or ask a question directly to the SEI staff here. The deadline for this opportunity is September 20th and space is limited to 16 attendees!

Subject: Student and Young Professional Scholarship Opportunity
Structures Congress is an annual conference hosted by Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) that brings together more than 1,200 colleagues in the structural engineering field from the U.S. and abroad. This year it will be held St. Louis, Missouri from April 5th - 8th.
There are scholarships for both students and young professionals (35 and younger) to attend! There are 40 spots open this year for students and 25 for young professionals (5 of which are allocated specifically for young professional full-time teaching faculty). These scholarships are provided thanks to generous donors and support from the SEI Futures Fund.
More information on the Student Scholarship can be found here. More information on the Young Professional Scholarship can be found here.
I currently serve on the SEI Student Initiatives Committee and was a 2019 Young Professional Scholarship winner last year so if you have any questions about the scholarships, feel free to ask them below or message me directly. This is an awesome opportunity for networking, developing your core (or soft) skills, and getting more involved with SEI!
Do you know of any other opportunities for Students and/or Young Professionals coming up? Feel free to post them in this thread!
