    Hello ASCE Collaborate,

I receive connection requests from former High School classmates who are in an entirely different industry such as healthcare and some requests from people who are self-titled "life coach" or "entrepreneur".

I start a discussion on whether one should be selective on who they connect with on LinkedIn or connect with everyone because "any publicity is good publicity" to get to the 'coveted' 500+ marker?

Hi Daniel, My approach has been fairly laissez faire in accepting requests to minimize administration. I tend to to err on the side of inclusion unless there's a very clear red flag, e.g., broker or wealth advisor type. Here's a good article from the WAPO that I found on the topic https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/on-leadership/wp/2014/03/07/to-accept-or-not-accept-that-linkedin-request/

    Regards, Mitch

    Hi Daniel,
Great topic! Well for me, when I did join LinkedIn, and I did a little search on that topic because it makes me confused; I found that all recommended being selective with your connections and make sure they give a positive reflection to your professional identity.

    Dear Daniel Bressler
Certainly, connecting with people who work in your field can be effective in making your capabilities more visible in the global community.
I'm also looking for a solution to get LinkedIn audiences interested in ASCE  to expand interactions in the discussions.
If you have a suggestion please submit:

I am very proud of my classmates who have risen in their chosen field.  For those who haven't, I would like to think I am an inspiration or a resource they can count on if needed.
