Hello everyone,
I hope all of you have been staying healthy. I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some events that the Drexel University's ASCE student chapter will be hosting this quarter to continue keeping our members engaged. We're trying to continue informal engagement with our membership virtually to provide some semblance of normalcy.
The executive board decided to reach out to our members through a Google form to gauge what types of events and topics they might be interested in. Options like virtual game night, online mock interviews, and general body meetings were suggested. We want to cater to our members without overwhelming them.
We hosted our first general body meeting last week with panelists from Philadelphia YMF who talked about staying focused on work and classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, we also faced some issues as our meeting got zoomboomed, as increasingly common occurrence. We've taken steps to avoid this from occurring in the future and I recommended all organisations intending on hosting virtual events to be extra cautious.
The virtual platform provides a lot of flexibility and in these difficult times, I encourage everyone to make use of resources available at hand to further the goals of out profession.
