The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) has been actively supporting implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals since their adoption in 2015;  details of what has been accomplished so far can be found in the WFEO 2015-2017 Biennial Report. Under new President Marlene Kanga this effort is being expanded as part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of WFEO's founding. As part of the celebration, WFEO jointly with UNESCO held a symposium on “Progressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals through Engineering”. This spring and summer, WFEO will participate through the Science and Technology Major Group in the UN Multi-stakeholder Forum on science, technology and innovation for the sustainable development Goals (STI Forum) and the High Level Political Forum continuing to show the important contributions that engineering is making in achieving the goals.  This year (2018) the focus is on the goals on water and sanitation, energy, responsible production and consumption, cities, and partnerships.   ASCE participates in WFEO through the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) International Activities Committee.   In October, WFEO will meet jointly with ASCE, ICE, and the CSCE for the first Global Engineering Congress "...an ambitious effort to agree a worldwide response to deliver the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals."
